“Let’s rethink fun.”
- Shinah
SUMMARY
Do you need to master the basics before you move onto the fun stuff?
I can’t speak for every area in life, but when it comes to creativity (especially calligraphy), I’m a strong believer in doing whatever it is you want to do!
Now, I didn’t always feel that way.
For most of my life, I thought that “fun” was the least important thing on my list. Getting the best grades, getting into a good college, landing a lucrative job, having a successful career, buying a house… maybe, MAYBE, after I’d accomplished all of those things, I could consider doing something just for fun.
Maybe you feel the same way. Maybe you feel that fun is a “nice to have” rather than a “must have”. An “eventually” rather than a “now”.
I’m here to tell you: fun isn’t frivolous. It’s actually pretty damn important!
And the time for fun is now.
When I believed that fun was frivolous and meaningless, guess what I lacked in my life? Fun! And once I realized how important it was and started consciously seeking it out, it turned my entire life around.
So, why do we have this weird idea that having fun is irresponsible or immature or a waste of our time??
And, importantly, how do we shake that misconception?
